Welcome to the Youth Group page!
My name is Ruth Kleinman and I am this year’s Youth Group
Director at SSTT-E. You can read my brief bio on the “Professional Staff”
page. I am looking forward to meeting everyone at the synagogue this year,
especially all the kids in grades 4-12! We already have some planning in
the works, and more will come with your help, suggestions, input, and
feedback. Please read the descriptions of each of the youth groups below,
and contact me by email if you would like to receive email updates, you have
any questions or you would like more information: ruth.kleinman@gmail.com
Senior Youth Group (Grades 9-12)
This youth group provides a variety of programs of a
religious, educational and social nature for all 9th - 12th graders. The
Senior Youth Group meets weekly on Wednesday nights at
8:30 p.m. in the Youth
Lounge, after Hebrew School, Confirmation class, and Gesher l’Kesher.
Meetings are always open to anyone interested. The Senior Youth Group has
been involved in projects with local senior citizens; The Midnight Run, a
program of feeding the homeless in NYC; a ski weekend; a white water rafting
trip; Mitzvah Mall on Mitzvah Day; and a monthly dinner prior to Friday
night services.
Our Senior Youth Group participates in WEFTY - the
Westchester Federation of
Temple Youth - allowing our young adults to participate in weekend programs
with Reform Jewish youth throughout the region and the country.
Junior Youth Group
This important Youth Group for 7th and 8th graders helps
bridge the gap into the teenage years. Innovative programs involve social
interaction between the children and both the Synagogue and the community.
Some of our programs include ice skating, Broadway shows, cooking food for
the homeless, and local sports games!
Club
4/5/6
It's never too early to start! This youth group is for our 4th,
5th, and 6th graders. The fun, supervised activities
include apple picking, bowling trips, Broadway shows, Junior Youth Group
Shabbat Services in participant’s houses, and social action/tzedek
programming.
One of
the activities open to all children in grades 4-12 is participation in the
Westchester Jewish Basketball League. The season runs from late November to
mid-March, and our co-ed high school team is coached by Tania Levy Medney.
(We are still looking for a coach for the 4-8 graders; please contact Ruth
if you are interested.) Unfortunately, SSTT-E did not have enough
participants for teams in the 07-08 year, but we hope to watch some playoff
games in the spring of 2008 and have some teams on the roster for November
2008!
Thanks
for checking out the new Youth Group page! I hope to hear from you soon!

The College Connection

mailings from the Synagogue to our congregants attending college out of the
local area. Rabbi Klein will be visiting some of the schools our students
are attending, just to touch base with them!
