SSTT-E Mini-University
Each year we offer a high-level learning opportunity with Dr.
Charles Raffel. Dr. Raffel teaches philosophy at Yeshiva University's Stern
College and has been a most popular adult education instructor at SSTT-E. No
previous experience is required, just bring your own questions, your
curiosity, and your concerns.
Fall Series:
Moses
Maimonides: A Medieval Modernist?
Moses Maimonides (1138-1204) is a towering figure of medieval
intellectual history. His influence is felt today in many different aspects
of Jewish life and practice. Together we will consider four different areas:
his biography, his rabbinic career, his ethical writing and his philosophy.
By studying Maimonides, you will achieve wonderful insights into many
different facets of Judaisn.

Spring Series:
New Wine in Old Bottles: Spring Festivals
Together we will study, analyze and discuss the classical
sources which underlie three Spring festivals: Purim, Passover and Shavuot.
We will search for modern interpretations to help us uncover different
aspects of their cntemporary significance. Bring your questions and concerns
and share in the journey.

Rabbi's Bible Study Chavurah
A long running favorite! Join Rabbi Klein for some
free-wheeling and far-ranging discussions, beginning with the Bible, but
moving far beyond it.

Prophets & Kings:
Our informal text-based Bible study group continues its
monthly meetings. We’ll study the interplay between the Kings of Israel and
their Prophets and see once again that the afternoon soaps have nothing on
the stories of our own people! Newcomers are more than welcome!

Adult Bar/Bat Mitzvah: Year Two
This year we continue last year's course of study. Rebecca
Shubert, our Temple Educator, will meet with the class one evening every
other week. Hebrew prayer and Jewish tradition and history will be covered.
The year will culminate with a joint ceremony on Friday, May 30.

Adult Confirmation/Brit Binah:
Covenant of Understanding
Living proof that Jewish education does not end with Bar/Bat
Mitzvah! This second year of the two year course of monthly meetings
with our Temple Educator, Rebecca Shubert, culminates in a group
Confirmation Service on May 16.
