MAZEL
TOTS®
EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM
Two’s, Three’s and Four’s Programs
The heart of our school is our Two,
Three and Four year old programs. Each program is designed to meet the
needs and abilities of that specific age. All aspects of the child’s day,
from play to project, are age appropriate and fun. From year to year, we
continue to build an environment that fosters social interaction, offers
emotional support and provides intellectual stimulation.
Mazel Tots is very proud of all the
specialists that support our programs. Throughout the course of a week, the
children will participate in movement, music, sports and games.
Additionally, monthly we have special visits from the animals and our
three’s and four’s enjoy a science project. All age groups also participate
in an ASL (American Sign Language) program which meets twice a month.
Every Friday we celebrate Shabbat. This
is a very special day for the children because we gather as a school to tell
stories with the Rabbi or sing with the Cantor. Plus, each classroom
welcomes a Shabbat guest who participates in the blessings, candle lightings
and is invited to read to the class.
Two topics that we know are of great
importance to parents of our two, three and four year olds are separation
and toileting. There is no strict timetable for a comfortable
separation to occur and the needs of the children will always be the
priority. Children enrolled in our programs do not have to be toilet
trained as we view it as a developmental process and believe children should
progress at their own rate.
Mazel Tots has two playgrounds on site.
One is specific for the Two’s and the other meets the needs of our Three’s
and Four’s. When the weather doesn’t permit outside play, we utilize our
indoor space for blocks and other aerobic activities.
An Extended Day option is available to
the Three’s and Four’s classes twice a week until 2pm. During this time,
the children eat a home-prepared lunch, enjoy a specialist activity,
continue exploring the classrooms and play.
Our Two’s program meets three days a
week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) from 9am – 11:30am. Our Three’s and
Four’s classes are in session five days a week (Monday thru Friday) from 9am
to 11:45am.
New for the 2007/2008 school year, the
Mazel Tots calendar will more closely compliment the public school
calendar. We begin in September and finish at the end of June. During our
final month, the Two’s class moves to a five-day-a-week program and their
day is extended until 11:45. For all groups, our structure switches to a
more “camp-like” format where the children enjoy five consecutive
specialists daily.
Toddler Program
This
program is designed for children who are preparing for a “separated”
nursery school program at the start of the school year in September. The
goal is to effect a gradual and gentle separation between your child and
their accompanying adult (parent or caregiver).
Our
Toddler Program’s curriculum will:
J
encourage children to explore by exposing them to a variety of textures
J
teach
children basic engineering skills through blocks, fitting and stacking toys
J
enhance
language skills through doll play, soft toys, dress-up and other domestic
play materials
J
aid
agility with use of climbing equipment, steps, balancing activities and
push-pull toys
J
increase
children’s awareness through books, art, music and so much more!
Beginning in January, Toddler classes meet from
9:15am – 10:45am
each Monday and Tuesday that the Nursery School is in session.
