News: Thoughts from our Executive Director
WHAT A GREAT PARTY!!!
On April 5th we had our gala Fun Raiser. What a wonderful and enjoyable evening. Over a 150 people signed up to honor our past presidents and enjoy an evening of games, delicious food, dancing and a silent auction. Many of our members commented that they enjoyed themselves immensely! This evening was not only important to the synagogue, socially, but also financially. However, nothing takes place without the dedication of lay members from our congregation.
For the last two years, Bonnie Sachs has been Chair of this event. Each time, I have had the honor and pleasure of working with her; I see more and more of her love and passion for the synagogue. She and her committee, worked tirelessly so that every minor detail was taken care of. The synagogue certainly could not operate without the participation of these dedicated individuals. The fundraising committee consisted of: Bonnie Sachs, our Chair Person, Susan Belkin, Marc Bodner, Sharon Charles, Jean Eisenberg, Debra Finn, Barbara Ginsberg, Christine Ginsberg, Randee Horowitz, Ann Jackler, Michael Krugman, Aaron Plum, Peter Silverberg, Nicole Spivak, and Emily Steinberg. The evening as mentioned, was to honor our past presidents.
Past Presidents of Scarsdale Synagogue Tremont Temple Meyer Ackerman Barry Kolevzon David Auerbach Dr. William Lewit Bernard B. Baschkin Nancy Milstein Gerry Cohen Howard B. Sherman Eric Emory Berl Sternberg Andy Goodman Joel Thea Victor Hershaft Lowell Williams
Past Presidents of Temple Emanu-El Herbert Blum Eugene Lubin Gerson Friedman Ron Rothenberg Joel J. Kudlowitz Franklin M. Schall David Lippner Marilyn Shebshaievitz Leonard Lowy Claire A. Simkins
These past presidents, have all been responsible for our past, present and laying a foundation for our future. Their commitment to our synagogue, speaks volumes!
Recently, we re-activated our Singles group, chaired by Ita Danel. On March 27 at 7:00 pm, the Singles in the Burbs, had a Martini Mixer, attended by over 45 people. From the reports I have received, it was an overwhelming success and the committee looks forward to having more get togethers. In addition, they are thinking of having guest speakers, attending Broadway shows and other events which many singles belonging to our temple may want to avail themselves of.
Sincerely,
Alan Hochberg |
